finally, rain

Last night, we finally had rain. The heat broke. I wore a sweater. It was glorious.

I read some, tried to write.

Started then discarded letters to people far away.

Attempted to watch the president’s address, but despair overwhelmed.

Ate cherries. Drank wine. Ate more cherries.

At least there is this: A lovely essay on The Rumpus about Kate Bush's Director’s Cut. Yes, Meridith Rohana, yes: “Give me these moments back. Give them back to me.”

And also, this: Richard Buckner’s new album Our Blood. You can listen online (NPR Music). Nothing will compare, for me, to Devotion + Doubt or Since, but this one seems like a path back. I believe in redemption.
